About Us

In 1964, after several years of building houses in the Denton area, Mr. L. H. Kruger purchased 328 acres along U.S. Highway 377, south of Aubrey. His plan was to develop the mostly wooded area and build houses on 1-acre lots.

As Mr. Kruger put his plan into motion, the development quickly evolved into a community. Families seeking the quiet country life, drawn to the beauty of the area caused the community to grow as word spread. The original water system, Kruger Waterworks, needed to be expanded twice to keep up with the booming growth.

The community officially incorporated to form the City of Krugerville in 1973. Since then, it has expanded well beyond L.H. Kruger’s original dream. Krugerville has grown into one of the most beautiful communities in the area, offering a perfect blend between the classic neighborhoods, affectionately known as “Old Krugerville” and newer developments, including “Fairview Farms” and “The Woodlands,” which feature over-sized lots with beautiful trees.

Krugerville retains the hometown feel, since so much of the original look-and- feel still exists. In fact, the “old town” vibe is still present in “Old Krugerville”, on the west side of the city. A lot of changes have taken place since L.H. Kruger was elected Mayor back in the early 1970’s. Growth throughout North Texas has gradually reached the City of Krugerville, which has adapted to the changes while retaining that small town atmosphere.

The entire area is growing now as quickly as it was when L.H. Kruger started building the first houses. Families today are still enjoying the beauty of the area, a community full of caring people and the peaceful rural setting. The city also offers an exceptional school system, low taxes, safe neighborhoods and convenient access to amenities provided throughout the area.

Since the very beginning and to this day, Krugerville strives to retain the rural atmosphere while constantly working to enhance the beauty, quality and the residents’ way of life.

Krugerville Police Department

The Krugerville Police Department has existed for over 30 years serving the city and surrounding communities. Staffing levels started out small usually with just a Chief of Police, one or more Reserve Officer(s) or one Patrol Officer. In the beginning 24 hour coverage was divided with KVPD staff handling the dayshift and nighttime coverage being provided by the Sheriff’ Department. In the late 90’s coverage by KVPD staff only began taking place.

In 2013 the City of Krugerville joined forces with the neighboring City of Cross Roads to establish a providential style police department known as the Northeast Police Department. This new department, led by Police Chief James Edland, provided services to both cities covering the US HWY 377 and US HWY 380 corridor. In 2021, both Krugerville and Cross Roads chose to part ways and established their own police departments.

On October 01, 2021, the Krugerville Police Department was re-established with the entire command staff of the Northeast Police Department electing to join KVPD. Today, KVPD strives to provide the areas most exceptional law enforcement services to our citizens and the surrounding communities led by Chief James Edland.

24/7/365 coverage today meets the needs of the booming growth throughout Krugerville and the entire North Texas area. Future growth will certainly lead to an increase in staffing and coverage area for our department.
