As of October 2021, the Krugerville Police Department staff has covered the city 24/7/365 and will continue this process with the expected growth and expansion of the US HWY 377 corridor. To maintain its operational strength, the Department periodically conducts hiring processes when vacated or new positions become available.

Qualifications

Krugerville Police Department officer candidates must:

Be at least 21 years old

Two or more years of TCLOE experience preferred

Have a high school diploma or GED certificate

Have a valid Texas driver’s license

Pass a Physical Agility Test

Participate in an interview panel

Pass a Medical Exam

Pass a Psychological Exam

Disqualifications

The following items are considered disqualifications for police service within the Krugerville Police Department:

A conviction of any family violence related offense

Prohibited by any state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle

Prohibited by any state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition

Any discharge from the United States Armed Forces with a less than honorable character of service including specifically: under other than honorable conditions, bad conduct, dishonorable, or any other characterization of service indicating bad character

Currently charged with any criminal offense for which a conviction would be a bar to TCOLE licensure

Have ever had court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of a class 'B' misdemeanor

Have had court-ordered community supervision or probation for any class 'B' misdemeanor offense within the past 10 years

Have ever been convicted of any criminal offense above the grade of a class 'B' misdemeanor

Have had a conviction for any class 'B' misdemeanor offense within the past 10 years

Commissioned Officer for another State

If you have had or currently have a Peace Officer commission (or its equivalent) issued from another State or the Federal government, you may be eligible to attend a "Texas Supplemental Peace Officer Course" in lieu of the basic peace officer course. For further information, you should contact the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), or an area training academy for specific qualifications

Application Process

City Application

To start your application process, you must fill out city application form. Once we receive and review your application, you will notified by the Chief of Police or a Background Investigator and given specific instructions. These instructions will include the date, time and location of your oral board.

Background Investigation (Personal History Statement)

Once the candidate passes the oral board, a background packet (Personal History Statement) will be provided. The applicant with have 15 days to complete and return the PHS packet to the department in-person with all the applicable forms

Oral Review Board

The Oral Board will consist of members of the department and / or city staff. The candidates will be asked questions about their background, skills and training, and should be prepared to answer some situational questions structured around their basic police knowledge with an emphasis on their decision-making abilities.

Chief’s Interview

The ultimate decision of employment lies with the Chief of Police after his review of the entire application process. An interview with the Chief of Police will explain the conditions and the expectations of becoming a member of the Krugerville Police Department. If compatible arrangements for conditional employment could be offered.

Medical Exam

A Medical Exam accessing the applicants’ physical conditions will be completed followed by a drug test pursuant to all applicable state laws and TCLOE regulations.
